Tide is good (1345) for using the land pontoon at Dale this Sunday, following a Gentleman’s race.

This means starting gentleman-like on the club line at 11:00 and proceeding to Dale using white sails only. Take your own time at the finish (Pass Dakotian to Stbd then finish across Dale Fort Jetty transit marks). Then argue about handicaps over a drink or two at the Griffin

Situated on the south side of the Milford Haven waterway some nine miles from the open sea, PHYC  members enjoy cruising and racing of cruiser-yachts.

Local cruising grounds start within the haven and further include the picturesque Pembrokeshire coast whilst areas accessible within 24hrs range from South and East Irish coasts and West Wales to Devon and Cornwall.

The clubhouse offers all customary amenities including bar and social area with race control and spectating, whilst tender storage provides convenient direct access to a good slipway with deep water pontoon serving moorings administered by the club.  Currently the club administers winter storage and lifting at a nearby yard.

The sheltered waters of the extensive haven provide for racing options in almost all conditions.

Our club house is at Hobbs Point (just next to the slip there) and has a bar which is open at the following times (and at other times by arrangement):

  • Saturday and Sunday 4 - 7pm
  • Wednesday night in summer after racing (c. 8pm till 10:30ish)
  • Friday night 5pm - 8pm

We also have a facebook page become a fan on facebook

One of my ‘must visit ‘ places on this adventure of ours is the Golfe de Morbihan. We left Isle de Houat at 11.30am and set our sails for the entrance into the Morbihan. Having read all the pilotage books on-board, the entrance into the ‘Golfe’ was to be treated with respect. The pilotage...

South Brittany can justly hold its head up high as a superb sailing area. There are so many Islands, ports, rivers, etc. you are somewhat spoilt for choice. Belle Ile is another example of wow, wow, wow. We had another fine sail to this offshore island and managed the trip in a single tack and...
  3. MoneyPennys Blog > Port Louis, Lorient 17.8.17

Having extricated ourselves from the mayhem of Isle de Croix, it was a short hours sail across the straight to Lorient, with its many marinas, and sheltered waterways. Lorient is South Brittany’s sailing capital with thousands of expensive looking craft of all shapes and sizes. We chose a very ...
  4. MoneyPennys Blog > Concarneau–16.8.17

Having had a somewhat rough night at anchorage on Isle de Glenans, the sanctuary of a marina beckoned. Concarneau to the North offered such facilities, so we upped anchor, set the sails and travelled the ten miles to the marina. No long journeys for us!!!!! Recently all under 10 miles!!. ...
