Well, the weather looks to me to be very nice for sailing the Regatta on Sunday. At least you will get somewhere and be able to get back, which wouldn’t have happened last time we tried to race it.

We look forward to seeing many of you on the start line at 11.00 and also afterwards at the barbecue in the Clubhouse.

Situated on the south side of the Milford Haven waterway some nine miles from the open sea, PHYC  members enjoy cruising and racing of cruiser-yachts.

Local cruising grounds start within the haven and further include the picturesque Pembrokeshire coast whilst areas accessible within 24hrs range from South and East Irish coasts and West Wales to Devon and Cornwall.

The clubhouse offers all customary amenities including bar and social area with race control and spectating, whilst tender storage provides convenient direct access to a good slipway with deep water pontoon serving moorings administered by the club.  Currently the club administers winter storage and lifting at a nearby yard.

The sheltered waters of the extensive haven provide for racing options in almost all conditions.

Our club house is at Hobbs Point (just next to the slip there) and has a bar which is open at the following times (and at other times by arrangement):

  • Saturday and Sunday 4 - 7pm
  • Wednesday night in summer after racing (c. 8pm till 10:30ish)
  • Friday night 5pm - 8pm

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Med - an area of 24,100 sq km. The Strait of Bonifacio is directly north of Sardinia separating it from Corsica, 8 nm away. We crossed the Strait on 19 July, passing the Iles Lavezzi and Iles Razzoli, Budelli & Spargi(Northern Maddalena Islands) ...

As usual, when we arrive in a main port, we have jobs to do! Supermarket, laundrette, plus topping up with water and, if necessary, diesel. Whilst in Ajaccio we were in the laundrette collecting our washing when a lady offered (in French) to help Judith fold the washing. It was a few seconds...
  3. MoneyPennys Blog > 28th June 2019–Corsica (part 1)

Our crossing from Ville Franche on the French Riviera to Calvi in Corsica took 18 hours – 15 of those under motor! We witnessed a beautiful sun set, in the company of Blue Papillion, a 98ft luxury sailing yacht built by Jongert, (worth a google!) & a beautiful sun rise as we approached...
